What We Believe

Scripture
We believe that the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the inerrant and inspired word of God, and is the supreme and final authority in faith and life. We believe in the supernatural as the vital element in the revelation and operation of the Christian Faith.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12-13
The Person and Work of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, that He is true God and true Man, and that He is the only sufficient Mediator between God and man.
We believe in the vicarious death of Jesus Christ for our sins, the resurrection of His body, His ascension into Heaven, and His personal, visible return to the earth; we believe that salvation is received only through acceptance by personal faith in His shed blood.
John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35; Romans 3:24-25, 4:25; Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 1 Peter 1:3-5
The Total Depravity of Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God and that he sinned and thereby incurred spiritual death.
Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:12
The Eternal State
We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked, that only those who through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and sanctified by the Spirit of our God are truly righteous in His esteem and that all who continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked and under the curse. We believe that this difference holds among men both in and after death, in the everlasting happiness of the saved and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost.
Luke 16:19-26, 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 20:11-15
The Responsibility of Believers
We believe that a New Testament Church is a body of believers who, with the aid of the Holy Spirit strive to walk together in Christian love, to advance the Church in biblical knowledge, to grow spiritually, to seek the salvation of all people, and to be witnesses in the world but not part of it. They give the Lord's Church a sacred priority over all institutions of human origin.
Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:14, 17, 7:1; Acts 1:8
The Godhead
We believe in one God eternally existing in Three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14
The Personality and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person and that His ministry is to reveal Christ to men by convicting them of their sinfulness to the regeneration and sanctification of their souls and to indwell, baptize, seal, gift, infill, empower, guide, anoint, teach, intercede for, interpret Scripture to, and unite believers.
John 16:8, 13; Romans 8:26-27, 15:16; 1 Corinthians 2:10-13, 6:19, 12:4-14; Galatians 5:16, 25; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16; Titus 3:5; 1 John 2:27
Satan
We believe in the existence and personality of Satan, a created and fallen angel, and in his presence in the world as the principal source and force of evil. He is a murderer, liar, and adversary of all believers, whom he tempts, accuses and slanders before God, hinders, and persecutes, and yet has no final authority in their lives.
Ezekiel 28:14, 16; John 8:44; 1 Corinthians 7:5; Ephesians 6:11-12; 1 Peter 5:8, Revelation 2:10, 12:10
Church Ordinances
We believe that baptism is immersion of a believer in water, in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, setting forth the essential facts of redemption - the death and resurrection of Christ - and also the essential facts in the experience of the believer - death to sin and resurrection to newness of life.
We believe that the Lord's Supper is a commemoration of His death until He comes and is to be celebrated at certain intervals and that all members should endeavor to attend regularly.
Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 11:23-26
Sexuality & Marriage
We believe according to the Scriptures that all of mankind is made in the image of God, created male and female only. We believe that all life is equally valuable to God and that both men and women are made equally to glorify Him and that one does not supersede the other in value to Him. We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning and this is marriage ordained by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.
Genesis 1:26-30, 2:23-24;  Matthew 19:4-6, 1 Corinthians 7:2
